Matthew D. Horgan, DVM
Matthew D. Horgan, DVM

Dr. Horgan was born in Belmont Massachusetts and graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 1976. He received his doctorate in Veterinary Medicine with the first graduating class of Tufts University School of Veterinary medicine in 1983. He then spent five years as assistant clinical professor in emergency medicine at South Shore Veterinary Associates, a teaching hospital for Tuft's University School of Veterinary Medicine before moving to Brunswick Maine in 1988.

For two weeks each year he volunteers his veterinary services to the country of El Salvador. He has two sons- Jake and Patrick. He recently married his childhood sweetheart, Elizabeth. During his free time Dr. Horgan enjoys playing hockey (for the team "Mighty Doc's"), golf, and traveling.



Amy P.Wood, DVM
Amy P.Wood, DVM

Dr. Wood studied art and zoology before graduating from Tufts Veterinary school in 1986. In 1989 she joined the staff of the Veterinary Clinic. In 2000 she built and launched a gaff rigged cutter with her husband, Philip Shelton, which they sailed around the world, returning in 2003. The website "Iwalani's Voyage Around the World" at www.worldvoyagers.com details their adventure and experiences working with animals and people around the globe. Dr. Wood is also co-owner of Book Orchard Press, a company dedicated to publishing books about animals that enrich our lives. As a professional artist, she spends most of her time writing, painting, and web designing. She enjoys all activities the planet has to offer-with the exception of rock climbing, sky diving, shopping and watching TV. She lives with her husband, stepson and various rejected animals on an organic salt water farm, very near the edge of the earth.





Menolly Beittenmiller, DVM

Dr. Beittenmiller received both her Bachelors in Biology and her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Missouri. Following vet school, she completed an internship at the University of Tennessee where she met her future husband and fellow veterinarian, Dr. Tyler Cote. Menolly and Tyler currently live in Wales, Maine with their five dogs and one cat. In her free time Menolly enjoys many outdoor activities including running, hiking and yoga. On rainy days, she can be found quilting or curled up on the couch with a few dogs and a good book.






Deb St. Laurent BA,LVT,LMT,CCRP

Debra St. Laurent,BA,LVT,LMT,CCRP

Debra St. Laurent has been practicing as a Veterinary Technician for more than 20 years. She is a Licensed Human Massage therapist as well as a Certified Equine Sports Massage Therapist. Debra completed the University of Tennessee course in canine rehabilitation and became certified in December, 2004. Debra worked at Massachusetts Veterinary referral Hospital outside Boston for 2 1/2 years before returning to Maine to do rehabilitation at the Veterinary Clinic. Debra lives in Yarmouth with her husband, Michael, and their four footed family members.


Sherrye Rankins

Sherrye Rankins



Sherrye has been with the Veterinary Clinic since 1997. Some of her responsibilites include prepping animmals for surgery, monitoring them while under anesthesia, performing dentals, drawing blood, lab work and x-rays. In her spare time she enjoys training dogs and has been a dedicated breeder of Labradors since 1993. She lives with in Pownal with her husband John and 4 children. Together they own and operate Mallard Point Kennels.





Abby Hodgkins

Abby has worked at the Clinic since 2005 and recently became a first time home owner in Brunswick. She is in charge of many daily task's such as surgical prep, dentals and taking xrays. She also takes care of lab work run in the hospital and sent to outside labs and assists with the front desk when called upon. When not at the clinic she enjoys spending time with her many animals, as well as friends and family and activities like camping and white water rafting.




Joshua Sawyer

Sawyer, the closet philosopher, enjoys hanging out with friends, fast cars, music, junk food, games and gadgets. He lives in Bath.



Joshua Streevey

Joshua Streevey

Josh Streevey has been a team member since 2000, starting as kennel help and working his way up the ladder. Josh lives in Bath with his 2 Labs Knubbs and Meg. Both needed special care when they where young. He also attended training for wildlife care at Chewonki in 2008, so he spends much time caring for young squirrels and birds when they are brought to the clinic. Josh attends to the care of the clinics patients and "handy man" duties.

When not busy stalking animals in the woods of Maine with his hunting dogs and friends, Sherrye's-Dad-George helps to keep all our veterinary equipment running smoothly. He has a deep affection for all animals(including cats now!) that goes far beyond the dinner plate.





Eileen Deschanes

Eileen Deschanes

Eileen's keen eye for detail over the weekends, helps get the Veterinary Clinic up and running on Monday mornings. She lives in Yarmouth with her dogs and cats.






Karen Cheetham
Practice Manager

Karen Cheetham

Karen lives in Richmond with her husband Mark. She loves all animals and takes in unwanted cats, birds, guinea pigs and dogs. A penultimate penny pincher, Karen is in charge of all the un-fun aspects of running the Veterinary Clinic. When not on the internet finding good deals, Karen spends time letterboxing, scrapbooking, making stained glass crafts and hiking.






Sarah Hansen

Sarah Hansen

Sarah Hansen started working at the Veterinary Clinic in 1978, as a volunteer in high school. She was drawn by her love for animals and the wonderful stories Dr. Pinfold would tell while in surgery. When Dr. Guy Pietz bought the practice he also hired Sarah. As a senior in High school she had an opportunity to move to Okinawa Japan. There she met her husband Frank and started her family. Between many jaunts around the world she would come home to work at the Veterinary Clinic. Her last and final move back to Maine was in 1991. She and Frank are blessed with 3 wonderful children Charlotte, Phoebe and Caleb, who make them laugh every day. She also shares her love and home with 3 dogs and 1 cat, Bullet, Gracie, Bette, and Peace. (They make us all laugh.)
